Enemies Lurking in the Home

I received an email from Libby Longtail's mom yesterday telling me that Libby has taken to protecting her family from their new washing machine. Miss Longtail observed her mom doing the laundry and immediately noticed something was amiss.

"This new washing machine is a front-load model, with the little round window. Libby saw a wire fox terrier in the window! Every time she peeked, so did the wire fox in the washer. Every time she barked, it did, too! And it looked so much like Libby, it might sneak out of there one day and fool the family!"

Check her out on alert by the new appliance:

What a funny gal! Our machine is a top loader, so I am far more interested in our dryer. Everytime Mom transfers the wet laundry from the washer to the dryer, I see how many items of clothing I can snatch away and play with. This tends to infuriate my mom, who then sometimes goes chasing me around the house and ends up having to rewash the items. We go through the same fun game when the clothes are dry and she opens the door to fold and store them away. I have a particular penchant for socks and Mom's undies! Especially dirty ones!

Hey, Grandma arrives from South Africa early Friday...no news yet on whether I can ride along to JFK...Mom doesn't think our kind are welcomed at airports. There has been lots of activity in the house in preparation for our VIP guest - I even have a new bed to jump on! Can't wait to give licks and kisses to Grandma, and get my pressies! Woohoo!

I Graduated!

I am pretty proud of myself - yesterday I graduated from Puppy Class.

That tassle sure tickled my nose! My certificate now hangs on our refrigerator as there isn't space to hang it in my crate!

There were only 2 graduates, me and this cute Bijon - I don't know why Base the basset/beagle mix didn't show up! Anyway, now I know to sit, go down, and stay with a treat in front of my nose (well, I don't always stay...those treats need to be eaten!) Here are pictures of me and Bijon (I forgot her name...)

I read a GREAT story today on CNN about a super couple who paid for 80 Katrina pets to be airlifted to California!
The Continental Airlines flight from Baton Rouge, Louisiana, was chartered for about $50,000 by Texas oil tycoon Boone Pickens and his wife, Madeleine, in a movement dubbed "Operation Pet Lift." Some dogs were placed in cages in the cargo section while others rode in the passenger cabin, where they barked and wagged their tails.

Big licks to Boone and Madeleine Pickens! xox

Ribs and Popcorn

Yesterday I received the most awesome gift in the mail from Brenda, Alle and Jack in Orlando, Florida - a whole wardrobe collection of jumperz - which are special doggie bandanas that attach to one's collar. I have a special one for Chanukah, the seasons, and more. I love them. Mom put one on my straight away and I posed for a picture. I intend modeling them all here on my blog.
This is my favorite one - it's blue with pictures of wires doing funny things:

And speaking of modeling, check out my funny pal Chewy (who just celebrated his birthday) in his fancy doggie Tshirt. Doesn't he look silly?

This morning I wore my jumperz to the park and I was widely admired. I made a new friend named Kush which mom told me means "black" in the ancient language of Aramaic, but Kush's owner said it means "happy" in Hindu. Well, my new friend was black and happy, so I guess it's a good name for him. Maybe it also means "gets other dogs in trouble" in some other language cos Kush lead me into a burr bush and I got those horrid things embedded in my face and paws. Mom had to yank them out.

I got a bit pissed off today as Mom left me alone in the laundry room to go grocery shopping. I know we need food, but why can't I go with? So when she came home, she was huffing and puffing as Dad wasn't around to help her shlep the groceries inside and there was no parking outside so she really had to double park around the block and shlep. Once all the bags were inside, she let me out, but then ran out again to move her car. I was bored and hungry so I went sniffing around in the bags - and found a nice package of beef ribs which I managed to break open. You should have seen Mom's face when she finally walked in the door to see me enjoying a big beef rib! Her glare soon turned to a smile and she said, "Oh Axel, you are a naughty boy," but she still let me chew on it for a little while before tricking me into giving it up!

Remember that sad story I told you a while ago about Jack the dog who's owner had been run down and killed by thieves when he believed Jack was in the car? Well I see today that they have caught thief and charged him with murder. Good. But poor Jack, I'm sure that is little comfort to him.

Well Mom and I are going to sit and watch the US Open Tennis final - we have a big bowl of popcorn and Mom generously gives me a few. What a strange human food that is - but you know me, I'll eat anythihg!

Frisky Saves the Day

Amid all the human suffering and photos of abandoned pets, there is a heartwarming tale of Frisky the mutt.

The mutt, who's nearly blind now, is a schnauzer-poodle mix and, at 19, is the equivalent of 133 in human years. The unimposing four-legged friend gave Mitchell reason to live when Katrina was slamming the Gulf Coast.

"My little friend and I had a party that night," Mitchell says. "We had a big party. We spent the night treading water and swimming. … This thing (Katrina) was the monster of them all. About four hours after I was treading water and all, I was about ready to let go, and I felt this real peaceful feeling, like, 'This is it.' Ya know? And I was about to let go and, all of a sudden, Frisky was on that mattress and come running to the corner of the mattress, and he kissed me and kissed me and kissed me. And it kinda snapped me out of it, and I was able to come back."

After what seemed like a lifetime, the mutt and his owner managed to escape the house.
"Frisky is "why I'm here," Mitchell says. "I couldn't ever express the closeness between he and I. It's amazing he's stuck around (all these years). I think he's waiting to cross the River Jordan with me. That's what I think he's waiting to do."

Once again this illustrates the love we canines feel for our faithful owners. We are not mere animals, we are beings with love and loyalty in our hearts.

Now, continuing on from yesterday's post - I have good news for all those desperate bitches out there - I have some new handsome wires to introduce you to!

Meet Jeeves - he is an urban New York City dude. He sure has a great smile:

From urban to country boy - here is Jasper from Oklahoma, who is 1 year and almost 8 months old. What a doofus look he has in this picture, heh heh:

Then there is Mackie - who I seem to recall is related to that gorgeous gal Maggie - I think they are siblings, but I could be confused:

Then there is Kramer. Poor Kramer, he had his balls chopped off just yesterday - I can't fathom what that must feel like. But I have overheard mom and dad say they don't plan on putting me through that for quite some time. My hope is - NEVER!

And, saving the funniest fellow for last, meet Dylan who enjoyed getting covered in poop after a walk down by the river. No bitch will come near you looking like that dog!

To my human and canine friends, have a great weekend! I'm outta here!

A Tail Wagging Ending

The AKC just completed an interesting survey of dog and non-dog owners.
What I find interesting is that one of the "survey findings revealed that owners of one dog were more likely to describe themselves as "happy" as opposed to non-dog owners (43 percent vs. 38 percent), yet those "sans pooch" say they are more organized (19 percent vs. 14 percent of dog owners). Dog owners were more likely to call themselves "laid back" than those without pups (26 percent vs. 17 percent)."

Of course dog owners are happy, disorganized people! We make them laugh and we are very au fait at creating disorder in their households! Mom and Dad are prime examples - they are constantly convulsing in giggles at my antics, and our house is an almightly mess. Though in my own defense, I suspect they weren't that organized or neat to begin with!

Since posting my dashing new haircut photos, I have received emails from lovesick bitches pining after me.

"Dear Axel, Will you be my new boyfriend?" writes Libby in Minnesota, "I think we'd make a cute couple. I am sending you my picture showing me running in the yard, I love to run."

I wrote back:
Take a number bitch. But you are rather cute - I'm just not into long distance relationships.

A lot closer than Minnesota is Camden, NJ - and that's where Venus (3) and Max (10) live with their owner Bill Z. Venus is kind of cute - if you like your women hairy.

But hey bitches, there is good news out there. I am not the only stud muffin out there. All wire males are adonises! For example, check out Herman who is owned by Carol and recently had to have his one ear glued down - what the heck is up with that?! And next to Herman (right) is Gabriel (8) with all his manhood visible to the world. He lives with his sister, Angel (9) pictured underneath, all curled up in a ball. They live in South Carolina, and have a pool! (I'm having an envy attack!)

I also want to introduce two new friends, Terri and Chewy, who are both 5 years old and live in Austin, Texas. Their mom Jill tells me that their favorite passion is to hunt for possums and birds. Monday night Terri killed a small possum in their backyard! Wow. Last summer they killed 5 birds! Terri also likes to "kill" her stuffed toys that no longer have squeakers or stuffing in them.

Holy crap, the two of them sound natural born killers. I bet they are members of the NRA. I haven't killed anything yet, my toys still all have their squeakers, and I haven't even chased a bird. What's wrong with me Mom?
To look at Chewy and Terri in their bath robes, you'd never think that beneath their demure appearances lurk dangerous killers! (Where can I get one of those robes?)

And lastly, my two Panamanian friends Olaf and Lulu just sent me a new photo of the two of them in their mom's garden, where they are only allowed to roam under close supervision - clearly evident in the fact that the flowers are still intact!

I was rather dismayed by the headline in today's Daily News - it read "38 EVACUEES, 1 DOG ARRIVE IN PHILLY" One dog? A doberman no less. I'm a tad disappointed, I was looking forward to meeting some good Southern hounds and chaperone them to Philly's greatest dogparks. Oh well...

And lastly - I am thrilled to be able to provide you with a happy follow up to the sad Katrina story I related on Sept. 4 about Valerie Bennet - who you will recall offered her rescuer her wedding rings if only she could take her 4 dogs with her. But her request was refused. Well, today there was news of at least one happy reunion:

Hurricane Katrina refugee Valerie Bennett was visibly delighted to be see her dog, Lady, after they were reunited at Emory Hospital in Atlanta. She and her husband, Lorne, had to leave behind four of their pets when Lorne, a liver transplant patient, had to be evacuated.
I love happy endings!

From Scruffy Rascal to Handsome Fellow

The moment you've all been waiting for....(drum roll)...my new look! Yesterday I got my first hand stripping by Alex who works at Petsmart. He did a fine job, especially putting up with my biting and mounting. When Mom and Dad came to pick me up, you should have seen the looks on their faces! I actually saw their bosoms (well Mom's anyway) swell with pride and joy! I don't mean to be conceited, but I am a fine looking dog now, especially with my bandana - so I wanted to share my new portfolio with you, my loyal readers and fans.

Paper towel rolls are one of my fave toys!

These Dingo treats are my favorite chew thingies

My most dignified pose. It was hard work let me tell you.

On my fave perch where I can bark out the window or have a nap

Snuggling against Mom...I'm embarrassed to admit, I look a bit like a cat here! Urgh! (Or Andy Rooney with those bushy eyebrows!)

Anyway, more later...I need to go check myself out in the mirror.
Oh, and before I forget, big shout out to Grandma in South Africa - HAPPY BIRTHDAY FOR YESTERDAY GRANDMA! SEE YOU SOON!

Seeking a Snowball in a Hurricane

Remember I told you that awful story about the little boy who was forced to surrender his beloved dog Snowball when he was evacuated from New Orleans, and how he was so distressed he cried and vomited. Well, it seems I wasn't the only living creature to be horrified by this story - today on CNN I read of an outpouring from around the country of people on the hunt for both the boy and his dog Snowball in hopes of a reunion. Some kind lady even started a reward fund -- which hit $1,775 as of Monday. I will keep my paws crossed for a happy reunion!

If you enjoy reading my blog, and who wouldn't, please VOTE FOR ME so my blog can be listed amongst the best terrier sites on the Internet! Just click on the "vote for me" link above, and that's it! Help ensure my status of King of the Canine Bloggers!!!!

Heh heh, I did a funny thing this morning! Mom took me out at 6 a.m. and I peed and pooped like a good boy, and then mom let me greet Dad who was still sleeping in his bed. I jumped on his face and wiped my wet pee-pee on his face! Mom was convulsing with laughter, but Dad was a bit grossed out!

Hey, today is my very first grooming experience! I am going to be stripped and trimmed - I hope I come out looking like a striking gentleman because right now I look like a scruffy rascal! I will post a photo of my new look later!

Terrier is top dog (No surprise there!)

An unusual terrier took the top prize two days in a row at the Gold Country Kennel Club dog show at the Nevada County Fairgrounds over the weekend. Stonebroke Right On The Money is a Sealyham terrier. The close-clipped 3-year-old with a long creamy beard is the top terrier and the fourth-ranked dog overall in the country, after winning his 22nd Best of Show award this year on Sunday.

Bravo Stonebroke Right on the Money! (what kind of dumb human would give a top dog a stupid name like that?)
He is quite a gallant looking fella!

I have been glued to my computer screen all morning watching a most delightful puppycam - it shows a wiry mom and her 5 sweet pups - you have to check it out!

Finally, a reminder about how you can help the animals affected by that horrid cow Katrina:

American Humane Association https://secure2.convio.net/aha/site/Donation
ASPCA http://www.aspca.org
American Veterinarian Medical Foundation https://secure.entango.com/donate
Emergency Animal Rescue Service (EARS) http://www.uan.org/ears/index.html

Please give generously - my kind have no voice to call out to rescuers or the ability to hang sheets to attract helicopters. We need your help!

Crying over Katrina

Oh the misery. How sad I am for all the people and animals suffering from the aftermath of Katrina. Today's article in the Guardian, brought tears to my eyes and made my furry face all wet:

As Valerie Bennett was evacuated from a New Orleans hospital, rescuers told her there was no room in the boat for her dogs. She pleaded. ``I offered him my wedding ring and my mom's wedding ring,'' the 34-year-old nurse recalled Saturday. They wouldn't budge. She and her husband could bring only one item, and they already had a plastic tub containing the medicines her husband, a liver transplant recipient, needed to survive. Such emotional scenes were repeated perhaps thousands of times along the Gulf Coast last week as pet owners were forced to abandon their animals in the midst of evacuation.

Where are all these dogs and cats? are they starving to death? Why can't more be done to keep humans and pets together. It is NOT right.

On a lighter note, I have MORE wiry friends to introduce. They are Alle and Jack, two wires who live down in Orlando, FL with their parents Brenda and Louis. Alle is a shy gal, while Jack is Mr. Social. Wendy makes delightful bandanas for her wiry friends (as modelled below by Alle), and I look forward to receiving one in the mail next week! Won't I look dapper!

Time to take a nap - my fifth one this day.

Of Hurricanes, Snoozing, Friends and Torn Penises

Sorry I didn't blog yesterday, I was sort of down reading about the horrid effects of Hurricane Katrina. I was reading CNN online this morning, and it made me furious:

At the back end of the line, people jammed against police barricades in the rain. Refugees passed out and had to be lifted hand-over-hand overhead to medics. Pets were not allowed on the bus, and when a police officer confiscated a little boy's dog, the child cried until he vomited. "Snowball, Snowball," he cried.

I can't believe it. I kept on thinking what if it was me there with my mom and dad, and they said I couldn't go on the bus! Where is Rosa Parks when you need her? That poor child - he's lost everything in the hurricane, he's traumatized enough, did they have to take his pet away? And where is Snowball now? It makes me shudder and boil at the same time!

Anyway, let's switch to something more light-hearted, like snoozing perhaps? Seems we WFT's really excel in this department, so I thought I'd post a few pics of my sleepy friends:

Like me, Libby loves sleeping atop the sofa!

Meet Maddie, she is 2.5 years old and lives in St. Peters, MO, which is just west of St. Louis. Her daddy James writes that, "she likesto rob socks from the laundry and only give them up as a last resort, she loves to play "chasey", and she is an avid ball fetcher and rabbit terrorizer." She sounds like a delightful, feisty gal! Just my type even if she is given to vulgar poses like this!

And in equally unladylike pose, we have our little Argentinian friend Chechu all a-snooze, belly up. My, what a rosy belly you have dear!

I'd also like to introduce some new terrier friends.
First up we have Kelly (also known as Kellybug) who lives in Bettendorf, Iowa and is 2 ½ years young. She is pictured here with her best friend Anne Claire. Kelly writes that, "my very favorite activity (other than eating) is to go to the tennis courts by my house. My Mom and Dad throw the ball to me and I run and run and run. When I am tired my Dad lifts me up to drink really cold water out of a fountain, that is lots of fun and it tickles my mouth." Kelly is also well known in her household for gobbling up her food and ending her tasty meal with a mighty BURP!

And wow, check out these guys, they go by the collective name of the Terrierfirma Gang! Imagine a household that is run by an Airdale, two Wires and a Scottie! The gang consists of Bamboozle, the 14-year-old wire fox, Matilda, the 14-year-old Scottie, Linus, the 8-year-old Airedale, and Libby Longtail, the 2-year old wire fox. They live near Cincinnati, OH, with their mom Jill, and evidently like to play cowboys and Indians!

And finally, a rather odd headline in the news today: Loose dog tears man's penis
Well, being the curious hound that I am, I had to read this story! It seems in July this year in Ghana, "Mr. Harle's dog escaped from his cage and pounced on the complainant who was standing outside his gate and tore his penis. Mr Marfo was rushed to the hospital and the incident was reported to the Police." Ow, that couldn't have been very pleasant. Maybe the poor dog was hungry and mistook the penis for a tasty sausage.

Maggie the Magnificent

Now this is what I call a high class gal! Maggie was born in Tallin, Estonia on Feb. 22, 2004 and shlepped over to the USA by her breeder. She now resides with her mom Billie in Oklahoma City. Here she is posing for her portrait:

Maggie's favorite thing to do is to jump up in the air and have you catch her! She sure is a fine specimen of our breed and her stripping is impeccable. Mom is threatening to get me stripped before Grandma arrives - I do look rather scruffy, I have to admit, but the thought of having my hair ripped out is not very appealing.

And just to show you that Colby is not the only wire who enjoys throwing a bottle of soda around, here is a picture of me having a high ol' time with dad's empty Coke bottle:

It was so exhausting, that I soon fell asleep on my perch - the top of the couch - with my favorite toy Cow which was a gift to me from my favorite petsitter Rose!

A Local Yokel

I found another wire in Pennsylvania - but boy is it a HUGE state - Rocky lives miles away in Oakmont, which is about 11 miles northeast of Pittsburgh. Sounds like a swell place to live, as his mom Lisa explains, "It's a quaint little town with brick streets and gas street lanterns, but we have the city amenities." He is almost four and loves Cherry water ice (as you can see in his first pic) and chasing rabbits in his yard. I still haven't seen a damn rabbit!!

Around the World in One Blog Flash

First a big round of applause for the Philly cops -- the horrible man who broke in and raped our neighbor is now behind bars, and I hope he stays there FOREVER. Now we can all sleep a bit better at night.

I had a super weekend, bar the visit to the vet! Yesterday Mom, Dad and I went to Quakertown to visit Dad's friend Rob who lives on a big family farm. Wow, I had so much room to run and play! I found a nice black gravel area, and had a good dig in the rain. Boy did I look a sight!
I then ran up to everyone (there was a big family reunion) and made sure everyone got as dirty as me! Heh heh!

We interrupt this blog report, with an advertisement for Sour Apple Crush brought to us by that Canadian Rascal Colby Russel!

Thank you Colby, and now we whip around the globe to the UK for two amazing news stories.
Wow, these folks must really love their dog!

A worried couple have offered a £40,000 reward to anyone who finds their missing dog.
Diane and Roy Cousins, both 55, have re-mortgaged their home in Bromley, Kent and even sold their wedding rings to raise the cash in an attempt find their beloved pooch, Natasha.

After consulting my online currency converter - I can tell you that is over $72,000! If I lived in Kent, I'd be out there sniffing for Natasha myself, my parents sure could use that kind of loot!

And how is this for a smart Scottish pooch?

When Archie, a black labrador, lost his owner on a lonely Scottish station, he jumped on the first train home. Not only did the dog catch the right train, he got off at the right station. Closed-circuit television footage shows the dog waiting for his master at the station before watching the Aberdeen to Inverness train pull in. Unable to find his owner, the labrador decided to avoid a long walk home by nipping aboard the 20.38 train. He got out at the right stop, Insch, 12 minutes along the line.

And now Axel's international blog, whips west to Panama - situated between Costa Rica and Columbia in Central America. Panama is home to two more wiry friends, Olaf and Lulu who are owned by Sarah. Olaf is a Panamanian native, but Lulu was imported from Argentina. What devilish grins the pair of them have!

And nearer to home in Louisiana and Mississippi (did I spell that right Grandma??), my thoughts are with my fellow animals who are about to be hit by the bitchy witchy Hurricane Katrina! I hope all the humans and animals will be safe - I've been watching that big red swirly image on TV, and it's pretty scary looking!

Over and Out.

Fading Days of Summer

Urgh - only two weekends left of Summer! I've never had a winter of course, but I hear Mom and Dad constantly moaning about how they are dreading it. I have a feeling I might like the snow!

But in the meantime, I love this picture of George gazing out at the ocean. I still haven't seen the ocean - what's up with that Mom and Dad?

Message from Grandma

I just got an email from my grandma in South Africa! She writes:

Hi there Axel
This is from your S.A. Grandma who you will be seeing in exactly three weeks - can't wait. Just to tell you that I really think you are the best doggie blogger in the world - I love reading about your antics. Also, please tell your Mom that I was sorry to hear about the break-in across the road - I really thought that it is safer in the USA than in S.A. And, finally, please also tell your Mom that she needs to check some of your spelling - the word is 'embarrassing' not 'embarracing' ! But you are only a very little pup so sure your spelling will improve!

Lots of pats and kisses. xxxxxxxxxxx

Yes Grandma, you are right, my spelling sucks! But let me ask you this, how good are you at digging holes, dismembering shoes and licking your balls?

I thought so.

Walkies!

AGC (You wouldn't catch me dead walking a poodle!)

Moment of TV Fame?

I was fast asleep in my crate last night, when I was awakened first by car alarms going off, and then a little while later by the sound of police sirens and ambulance. I ignored it and went back to sleep, but Mom and Dad were awake and peering out the window. They assumed someone was sick and went back to sleep finally.

This morning, Mom wasn't feeling well (she's had a head cold for 2 days) so she slept in and then took me for a walk. So we're walking down the street and there are these men in blue and white uniforms all over - cops! And a police crime scene unit, just like you see on CSI! Mom asked a cop what was going on and was it related to the events of last night. The cop explained that an intruder had broken in to the house diagonally across from ours - through the second floor window! Last night was very cool, so people probably opened their windows for the first time. Anyway, the intruders stole her car but the lady and her spaniel were okay.

So while on our walk, this man with a microphone started asking mom questions about how she feels about the break in etc...and me and mom are going to be on Fox TV news! After the brief interview, he asked both of us to just walk past the camera - I was a smart dog...as we were walking I went right up to the camera lens and peered in! Ha! So there should be a good shot of me on TV tonite.

Mom didn't want me writing about this on my blog cos Grandma is coming to visit us from South Africa in 3 weeks, and we don't want her to think she is still in South Africa. So Grandma, if you are reading this, don't worry, this isn't a frequent occurence and Mom and Dad are hoping to install an alarm system, and I'll protect you (if I'm awake!).

Mom had a cadenza on our walk today - I was rolling on a patch of grass when she discovered I was really rolling on a dead mouse! Boy did she pull me away from there fast! Geez mom, don't you know we terriers were trained to seek out vermin - I was just following instinct, even if the mouse was already dead!

All in all, a most exciting walk this morning!!

The Two Faces of Axel

Mom does not stop snapping my picture! It's getting embarracing. But what the heck, might as well post it on my blog - it's not like I'm ugly to look at, right? Especially with my cute little lightening bolt on my forehead.

Got a wee fright today when I found another WFT blog in the blogosphere! I felt my status as blogger supremo was threatened! It's written by Dean-O, a wire in Montreal, Canada. My angst was thankfully in vain however, as Dean-O seems to use his blog only to showcase his different seasonal outfits (and you know how I feel about dressing up!). As alluring as those photographs are, I feel my blog is for the more discerning terrier who enjoys some thought-provoking opinions and witty observations. Plus, I am a more diligent blogger as Dean-O hardly updates! HA!
I remain Axel, WFT King of Blogdom!

AGC (feeling rather smug)

Poor Jack

Just been weeping over my keyboard at this sad story from the UK about a farmer and his devoted border terrier mix Jack:

GAZING expectantly, border terrier Jack waits for his master to return.
The ex-stray would always sit by farmer Mick Boffey as he did daily tasks. But their inseparable bond has been broken after Mick, 61, was run over by thugs stealing his Land Rover. Mick had raced to the 4X4 fearing Jack was inside, but the little dog had already been dumped.
Since Mick's death, Jack has hardly eaten and constantly sniffs around, hoping to pick up his scent. He still scampers to the yard when he hears a tractor, waiting for Mick to jump down and pat him on the head. Heartbreakingly, he has yet to realise his master is not coming home.

Poor Jack.

What more can I say?

AGC

What a load of shit!

Can you imagine spending $1 million on dog poop? Well, that's what Budapest, Hungry is doing!

"Hungary's capital is launching a 200-million-forint ($1-million) campaign to rid itself of hundreds of tonnes of dog waste which land on the city's sidewalks and parks each year. City officials estimate that Budapest's 400,000 dogs produce around 14,600 tonnes of dog waste each year, more than the weight of the Eiffel Tower and the London Eye combined, creating a health hazard and a public nuisance."

Now excuse me, I may be a mere canine, but it gets my goat that the tone of this article blames the dogs and not their owners! It's not like we can help where we poop - it's not like we have toilets at our disposal. Geez. Pisses me off.

But back to my mundane life.
Last night I caught my paw in the dishwasher! Mom said it served me right for always climbing onto the dishwasher door when she loads it up. I just can't help it and besides, I am providing a pre-wash licking service. It seems I am not unique in this behavior!!

And speaking of not being unique, it seems I am not the only WFT who adores gazing at my image in the mirror. Check out that Pippin dude:

A quick shout out to my pal Noonie/Goldie Nissenbaum, a sweet retriever who lives in northern Israel. Her mom Becka tells me the stupid dog authorities impounded her yesterday as she was sitting outside their home watching her daddy Yaniv clean the floors! Becka was beside herself that Noonie would freak to be in an unfamiliar place, but when Yaniv paid her 400NIS bail (about $80), Noonie looked sad to leave the other dogs and come home!
Had I been Noonie, and falsely arrested like that, I would have bitten the dog catcher in the bum! Alas, a retriever is not a terrier!
