Revenge of the Squirrels!

Friends. I have very disturbing news to share with you today. I read it over breakfast, and my kibble went down the wrong way and I had a coughing fit! Yes. It's that scary. My wiry pals, our squirrel hunting days may be over. Those furry little rodents are taking revenge! Read this:

Squirrels Kill and Eat Dog
Local media in Russia have reported how a gang of aggressive squirrels have bitten to death a stray dog which was barking at them in a park. Witnesses to the attack told of how the squirrels ran off with lumps of flesh when humans approached.

The attack was witnessed by three local people in the parkland in the centre of Lazo, a village in the Maritime Territory. One of the witnesses said: "They literally gutted the dog,"

A scientist in the region asserted, "the little beasts are agitated because they have nothing to eat".

I am not given to using expletives, but holy shit! What if this is the beginning of some global clandestine underground squirrel movement intent on taking revenge against us for barking and chasing them!? What are we to do friends? Surely we can't be expected to give up on our favorite sport? This is very upsetting...

And you know what else gets my goat? The media has been saturated with the story of the French woman receiving a face transplant. Every report I've read describes her as the victim of a "savage dog attack." But here is the truth my canine friends:

The French woman who received the world's first partial face transplant this week was disfigured when her dog tried to wake her during a suicide attempt, her daughter said." She had taken pills, she was unconscious. When the dog realised that, it tried to wake her," the 17-year-old said. "After that we don't know what happened with the dog, whether it bit or clawed her, but it managed to pull her awake. In a way, it was lucky for her that the dog was there," she said.

So here we have the classic story of caring dog receiving a bad wrap. He saved her life! It's unfortunate that he disfigured her in so doing - but he was only trying to wake her up! In my book, that's a very good dog! And what was his reward? Death my friends, death! Grrrr!

Okay, onto happier things. Our friend Ares in Virginia (introduced on the blog on Nov. 21) now has two new wiry sisters, Phoebe and Daphne! His mom Kelli writes that, "Ares thinks the girls are a ton of fun." Big bro Zeus the Airdale is enjoying some peace and quiet! Man they are cute little girls - just look at them!

And still on the subject of cute baby wires, here is the latest installation of "Take Me Home!"
Sparky is 10 weeks old. He was rejected by a pet store due to a hernia which is easily repaired when neutered. He is sweet, quiet and playful. If you want to take Sparky home, please call his foster mom for more information 740-472-9828. Aww, he is sooo cute!

Woohoo, it's the weekend again! Have a good one everyone!
