Sorry I didn't blog yesterday, I was sort of down reading about the horrid effects of Hurricane Katrina. I was reading CNN online this morning, and it made me furious:
At the back end of the line, people jammed against police barricades in the rain. Refugees passed out and had to be lifted hand-over-hand overhead to medics. Pets were not allowed on the bus, and when a police officer confiscated a little boy's dog, the child cried until he vomited. "Snowball, Snowball," he cried.
I can't believe it. I kept on thinking what if it was me there with my mom and dad, and they said I couldn't go on the bus! Where is Rosa Parks when you need her? That poor child - he's lost everything in the hurricane, he's traumatized enough, did they have to take his pet away? And where is Snowball now? It makes me shudder and boil at the same time!
Anyway, let's switch to something more light-hearted, like snoozing perhaps? Seems we WFT's really excel in this department, so I thought I'd post a few pics of my sleepy friends:
Like me, Libby loves sleeping atop the sofa!
Meet Maddie, she is 2.5 years old and lives in St. Peters, MO, which is just west of St. Louis. Her daddy James writes that, "she likesto rob socks from the laundry and only give them up as a last resort, she loves to play "chasey", and she is an avid ball fetcher and rabbit terrorizer." She sounds like a delightful, feisty gal! Just my type even if she is given to vulgar poses like this!
And in equally unladylike pose, we have our little Argentinian friend Chechu all a-snooze, belly up. My, what a rosy belly you have dear!
I'd also like to introduce some new terrier friends.
First up we have Kelly (also known as Kellybug) who lives in Bettendorf, Iowa and is 2 ½ years young. She is pictured here with her best friend Anne Claire. Kelly writes that, "my very favorite activity (other than eating) is to go to the tennis courts by my house. My Mom and Dad throw the ball to me and I run and run and run. When I am tired my Dad lifts me up to drink really cold water out of a fountain, that is lots of fun and it tickles my mouth." Kelly is also well known in her household for gobbling up her food and ending her tasty meal with a mighty BURP!
And wow, check out these guys, they go by the collective name of the Terrierfirma Gang! Imagine a household that is run by an Airdale, two Wires and a Scottie! The gang consists of Bamboozle, the 14-year-old wire fox, Matilda, the 14-year-old Scottie, Linus, the 8-year-old Airedale, and Libby Longtail, the 2-year old wire fox. They live near Cincinnati, OH, with their mom Jill, and evidently like to play cowboys and Indians!
And finally, a rather odd headline in the news today: Loose dog tears man's penis
Well, being the curious hound that I am, I had to read this story! It seems in July this year in Ghana, "Mr. Harle's dog escaped from his cage and pounced on the complainant who was standing outside his gate and tore his penis. Mr Marfo was rushed to the hospital and the incident was reported to the Police." Ow, that couldn't have been very pleasant. Maybe the poor dog was hungry and mistook the penis for a tasty sausage.
