Crying over Katrina

Oh the misery. How sad I am for all the people and animals suffering from the aftermath of Katrina. Today's article in the Guardian, brought tears to my eyes and made my furry face all wet:

As Valerie Bennett was evacuated from a New Orleans hospital, rescuers told her there was no room in the boat for her dogs. She pleaded. ``I offered him my wedding ring and my mom's wedding ring,'' the 34-year-old nurse recalled Saturday. They wouldn't budge. She and her husband could bring only one item, and they already had a plastic tub containing the medicines her husband, a liver transplant recipient, needed to survive. Such emotional scenes were repeated perhaps thousands of times along the Gulf Coast last week as pet owners were forced to abandon their animals in the midst of evacuation.

Where are all these dogs and cats? are they starving to death? Why can't more be done to keep humans and pets together. It is NOT right.

On a lighter note, I have MORE wiry friends to introduce. They are Alle and Jack, two wires who live down in Orlando, FL with their parents Brenda and Louis. Alle is a shy gal, while Jack is Mr. Social. Wendy makes delightful bandanas for her wiry friends (as modelled below by Alle), and I look forward to receiving one in the mail next week! Won't I look dapper!

Time to take a nap - my fifth one this day.
